Shabad Interpretation in English:

O mortal, meditate on the One Lord. You shall go to your true home with honour. Amidst eating, drinking, laughing and sleeping, one forget death. Forgetting his Lord and Master, the mortal is ruined, and his life is cursed and worthless. Those who serve You what can they give You? They cannot remain without asking from you for things that are transitory. Thou are the Giver for all the beings, thou are the life within all beings. The God-conscious beings who remember God receive the nectar and they alone become pure. Day and night contemplate thou the Lord’s name, O mortal. Through it the filthy are rendered immaculate. As is the season, so is the comfort of the body and the body too becomes like that. Nanak, beauteous is the season, in which the Lord’s name is meditated upon. No season is of any worth without the Lord’s Name!

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ! ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰੋੋ। ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਹੁੰਚੇਗਾ। ਖਾਣ, ਪੀਣ, ਹੱਸਣ ਅਤੇ ਸੌਣ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਮੌਤ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸਾਰ ਕੇ ਜੀਵ ਉਹ ਉਹ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਖ਼ੁਆਰੀ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਬਣਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਮਨੁਖ ਭੁਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਦਾ ਇਥੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਟਿਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿਣਾ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ ਸਗੋਂ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਮੰਗਦੇ ਹੀ ਮੰਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਮੰਗਣੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਰਹਿ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ। ਤੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜਿੰਦ ਭੀ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈ। ਜੇਹੜੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹੀ ਸੁੱਚੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਇਸੀ ਲਈ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪੋ, ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਭੈੜੇ ਆਚਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਭੀ ਚੰਗੇ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜੇਹੜੀ ਰੁੱਤ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਹੇਠ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੀਵਨ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੀ ਸੁਖ ਜਾਂ ਦੁਖ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਢਲਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਉਹੀ ਰੁੱਤ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਰੁੱਤ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਭ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇ ਸਕਦੀ।

Shabad Interpretation in Hindi:

हे प्राणी ! एक परमात्मा का ही सिमरन करो। प्रभु सिमरन की महिमा द्वारा ही तुम परमात्मा के ग्रह की प्राप्ति कर सकते हो। मनुस्य, अपना जीवन खान पान हसने एवं निन्द्रा में ही मस्त, मौत को भुला देता है। प्रभु को भूल जीव वोह सभी काम करता है जिस से वह अपना जीवन नष्ट कर लेता है और भूल जाता है कि यह जीवन छिन भर का है। हे प्रभु ! जो मनुस्य तेरा सिमरन करते हैं वोह तुझे कुछ दे नहीं सकते बलकि तेरे दर पे मांगते ही रहते हैं। प्रभु तूं सभी जीवों को वरदान देता रहता है, तूं आप ही जीवों की जान है। जो मनुस्य गुरु की शरण मे प्रभु सिमरन करते हैं वोह नाम रुपी अमृत हासिल कर उच्च जीवन प्राप्त करते हैं। हे प्राणी इसी लिए दिन रात प्रभु सिमरन करो इस से दुष्ट भी पवित्र हो जाते हैं। मनुस्य जिस प्रकार की ऋतु मे जीवन गुजारता है , उस के शरीर को उसी प्रकार का सुख या दुःख मिलता है और शरीर भी उसी प्रकार ढलता है। है नानक ! मनुस्य के लिया वोही ऋतु उत्तम है जब वह प्रभु सिमरन करता है। प्रभु नाम सिमरन बिना मनुस्य के लिए कोई भी ऋतु लाभदायक नहीं है।

Gurpreet Kaur’s journey in this world .... Gurpreet Kaur was a Musician. She was a singer and a composer of music. Her interest was composing and singing Gurbani Shabads in Indian Classical style. She sang Shabads in All the Raags mentioned in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. She also taught Gurmat Sangeet at Gurmat Gian Missionary College, Jawadi, Ludhiana. Elder child to Pushpinder Kaur and Dr. Brig. Harminder Singh, was born in Amritsar on 13th Jan 1962. She attended various convent schools as a child because her father would get frequent Army postings as a dental surgeon. She graduated with Music Honors from Govt. College for Women, Chandigarh. Music was her hobby and she composed and sang Raag based Gurbani Shabads. Doing Kirtan was part of growing up nurtured by her parents. She learned music from her father Dr. Brigadier Harminder Singh who was a dental surgeon in Indian Army and a very good singer himself. Gurpreet’s Bhua (father’s sister), Ajit Kaur retied as a Head of Department of Music from Govt. College for Women Ludhiana, and was a renounced Punjabi singer of her time. Gurpreet Kaur also learned nuances of Indian Classical Music from Pandita Sharma. She was a mother of three children, and a grandmother. Her daughter Keerat Kaur is a Computer Engineer. Her two sons Gurkeerat Singh and Jaskeerat Singh are doctors in USA. Her daughter Keerat Kaur too was part of her group ~ Gurmat Gian Group. Gurpreet Kaur left this world at the age of 54yrs on 12th Sept 2016 in Baltimore USA. She had recorded around 25 cds of Gurbani Keertan.
