Raag Basant is 25th Raag to appear in the raag wise collection of Shabads in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The compositions in this raag appear on a total of 29 pages from page numbers 1168 to 1197. Raag Basant is an old raag and has an important place in Indian Classical Music. There are many forms of Raag Basant. One such form is Basant Bahar. This raga is formed by combining both the raags Basant & Bahar.

Thaat: Poorvi

Singing time: Any time in Basant season or Ratri ka antim pahar.
This raag is a combination of Basant and Bahar. From Shadja to Madhyam, the raag swaroop of both the raags in same, however if in the later part of the aroha bahar is shown then komal gandhar is used, and if in the later part of the aroha basant is shown then shudha gandhar is used.
