Raag Dhanasari |
Raag Dhanasari is 10th Raag to appear in the raag wise collection of Shabads in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The compositions in this raga appear on a total of 36 pages from page numbers 660 to 696 . The performance time for this raag is said to be early afternoon time from 12 pm to 3 pm. |
Thaat: Kafi, Jatti: Aurav Sampooran. In aroh Rishab & Dhaivat are absent. In avroh all the swars are present. Gandahar & Nishad are komal. The similarity between Dhanasari and Bhimplasi is amazing. They share the same thaat Kafi, they share the same jatti Aurav Sampooran and they share the same gayan time. The only difference is the vaddi swar. In Dhanasari the king of the raag is Pancham and in Bhimplasi the king of the raag is Madhayam. |

I am glad to know that this group is promoting Raag based Gurbani. There is no doubt that Shabad sung at appropriate time of Raag enhances spiritual quotient many more times . I will be grateful if I am associated with this group.Arvind Singh Chandigarh
Thanks for visiting this site and appreciating the work done by this Group. As per Waheguru ji’s hukam, Gurpreet Kaur the soul behind this endeavour has left for heavenly abode 2 years back. She left behind a big treasure of Gurbani renditions in all the Raags mentioned in Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji. Hope you keep visiting this site and receive the fragrance of Bliss by hearing these compositions created with tremendous love by Gurpreet.
Great info on Dhanashri. I say this after searching a lot on rag Dhanashri.
If I am not wrong, one of the best composition in Dhanashri in Hindi film song by Naushd, Lata is “Tere sadakey balam , na kar koi gham…, film Amar. Carefully listen this song WITH earphones for its real melody impact
