Shabad Interpretation in English:  

Offer your prayer to your Lord. You shall obtain all the blessings, and the treasures of bliss, pleasure, peace, poise and the spiritual powers of the Siddhas. Renounce your self-conceit, and grasp hold of the Guru’s feet; hold tight to the hem of God’s robe. The heat of the ocean of fire does not affect one who longs for the Lord and Master’s Sanctuary. Again and again, God puts up with the millions of sins of the ungrateful ones. The embodiment of mercy, the Perfect Transcendent Lord – Nanak longs for His Sanctuary.

हे भाई, अपने परमेश्वर से ही प्रार्थना करनी चाहीये. संसारिक सुख, आनंद मंगल और रूहानी प्रतिभा अपने आप हासिल हो जाती हे. अभिमान को तेयाग कर परभु की चरनी लगने से ही परमात्मा के आँचल का सहारा मिलता हे. स्वामी प्रभु की शरण द्वारा अगन सागर रूपी संसार में कोई आंच नहीं आती. प्रभु, महा अपराधी और कृतघ्न जीवों के भी अपराध बार बार माफ़ करता है. नानक, करुणामाय पूरण परमेशर की शरण याचना करता है.

Gurpreet Kaur’s journey in this world .... Gurpreet Kaur was a Musician. She was a singer and a composer of music. Her interest was composing and singing Gurbani Shabads in Indian Classical style. She sang Shabads in All the Raags mentioned in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. She also taught Gurmat Sangeet at Gurmat Gian Missionary College, Jawadi, Ludhiana. Elder child to Pushpinder Kaur and Dr. Brig. Harminder Singh, was born in Amritsar on 13th Jan 1962. She attended various convent schools as a child because her father would get frequent Army postings as a dental surgeon. She graduated with Music Honors from Govt. College for Women, Chandigarh. Music was her hobby and she composed and sang Raag based Gurbani Shabads. Doing Kirtan was part of growing up nurtured by her parents. She learned music from her father Dr. Brigadier Harminder Singh who was a dental surgeon in Indian Army and a very good singer himself. Gurpreet’s Bhua (father’s sister), Ajit Kaur retied as a Head of Department of Music from Govt. College for Women Ludhiana, and was a renounced Punjabi singer of her time. Gurpreet Kaur also learned nuances of Indian Classical Music from Pandita Sharma. She was a mother of three children, and a grandmother. Her daughter Keerat Kaur is a Computer Engineer. Her two sons Gurkeerat Singh and Jaskeerat Singh are doctors in USA. Her daughter Keerat Kaur too was part of her group ~ Gurmat Gian Group. Gurpreet Kaur left this world at the age of 54yrs on 12th Sept 2016 in Baltimore USA. She had recorded around 25 cds of Gurbani Keertan. 'Raag Ratan' Album (6 CDs) is a Compilation of Shabads in All the 31 Sudh Raags of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. 'Gauri Sagar' Album (3 CDs) is a Compilation of All forms of Raag Gauri in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. 'Nanak Ki Malhaar' ~ ((3 CDs) is an album of Raag Malhar Shabads in various forms of Malhar. 'Gur Parsaad Basant Bana' ~ (3 CDs) is an album of Shabads in Raag Basant sung in various forms of Raag Basant.     This Shabad sung in Devgandhari is in a different style. Dhrupad Style is a very old shaylee of singing devotional songs. During our Gurus’ time and even before, this Dhrupad shaylee was very much prevalent. Many of the Shabads in SGGS ji seem to be composed in a way that suits Dhrupad type of singing.
    Conventional Dhrupad singing which many of the great singer of modern time do can not be followed by those who aspire to sing Gurbani. The reason being that in modern type of Dhrupad words are not given importance where as for Gurbani singing Gurbani Words are to be given the First Preference while singing so as to convey the Message of Gurbani to the listeners. Here is a humble attempt to present Gurbani in Dhrupad style keeping Gurbani as main presentation.
