He dispels the pains of ages and lends support to insignificant beings.

Contemplating on the Lord one is beholden by the blessed vision of His darshan.

My healer is my Guru, the Lord of the Universe.

By bestowing me wth His grace as a medicine, He extinguishes the fear of death within me.

He is the all powerful, perfect Lord, the maker of everyone’s  destiny.

The Lord himself redeems His followers; Nanak always seeks His support.

के दुखों का निवारण करता है और निराश मन में भी खुशी प्रदान करता है. उस के दर्शन एवं हरि नाम

स्मरण से मन निहाल हो जाता है. हे समस्त शक्ती के मालिक, सरब विआपक, सभी जीवों को पैदा

करने वाले, सभी कार्य के करता प्रभु, नानक कहते हैं, जो मानुष हरि नाम को अपना आधार मान

लेता हे प्रभु उस सेवक को इस जनम के दुखों से बचा लेता है.

Shabad Interpretation in English:My dear friend Waheguru is dear to me, He is always with me, beside me. My beloved Lord is dearer to me than my life; I have seen Him with my own eyes! I have seen Him living hidden in every being. He is a beloved sweetest nectar.  He is always near but fools cannot find Him and they are unable to relish the joy being with Him. Those intoxicated in maya remain busy in trivial affairs, remain in illusions and cannot meet the Lord. Says Nanak, without the Guru, one cannot understand the Lord, the friend who is standing near everyone.

हे मेरे भाई, मेरा परम मित्र प्रभु हर समय मेरे संग साथ है.  मेरा प्रिय प्रीतम मुझे अपनी जान से भी पयार है. मै ने उसे अपनी आँखों से देखा है. मैने उसे हर जीव में अद्रिश अवस्था मे पाया है. वोह प्रीतम, मधुर अमृत सामान है. प्रभु परमात्मा हर समय हमारे साथ है पर मूरख लोग उसे देख नहीं पाते और प्रभु मेल से वंचित रह जाते हैं. जो व्यक्ती माया के नशे और संसारी उलझनों में मस्त रहते हैं, प्रभु मिलन से दूर हो जाते हैं. नानक कहते हैं, हे भाई गुरु बिना यह समझना मुश्किल है, कि सभ का मित्र परमात्मा, सभी मनुष्य जानो के अंग संग है.

O creator of universe, I have got my mind and my body from You. My wealth too belongs to You. You are my God and my Master. Body and soul and all riches are Yours. Yours is the Power, O Lord of the World. Forever and ever, You are the Giver of Peace. I bow down and fall at Your Feet. I act as it pleases You, as You cause me to act, Kind and Compassionate Dear Lord. O God, from You I receive everything and You are my ornament. Whatever You give me, brings me happiness. Wherever You keep me, is heaven. You are the Cherisher of all. Meditating, meditating in remembrance, Nanak has found peace. Twenty four hours a day, I sing Your Glorious Praises. All my hopes and desires are fulfilled; I shall never again suffer sorrow.

Shabad Interpretation in English:

I contemplate, forever and ever, the True Guru; with my hair, I dust the feet of the Guru. Be wakeful, O my awakening mind! Without the Lord, nothing else shall be of use to you; false is emotional attachment, and useless are worldly entanglements. Embrace love for the Word of the Guru’s Bani. When the Guru shows His Mercy, pain is destroyed. Without the Guru, there is no other place of rest. The Guru is the Giver, the Guru gives the Name. The Guru is the Supreme Lord God; He Himself is the Transcendent Lord. Twenty-four hours a day, O Nanak, meditate on the Guru.

Shabad Interpretation in Hindi:

मै अपने सच्चे गुरु को हर समय धयान मे रखता हूँ। मै अपने केश से गुरु के चरण साफ़ करना चाहता हूँ। हे मन मेरे तूं जाग, बिना हरी के किसी ने तेरे काम नहीं आना, तु झूठे मोह और अनुचित संबंध को त्याग। गुरु की बाणी से पयार लगा। अगर गुरु किरपा करे तो दुखों का नाश होता है। गुरु के बिना तेरा कोइ आसरा नहीं। गुरु ही तुझे सभ कुछ देने वाला है और गुरु ही प्रभु का नाम प्रदान करने वाला है। असल मे गुरु आप ही परमेश्वर स्वरुप है, नानक तो आठ पहर गुरु के जाप मे मगन रहता है।

ਮੈ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਸਮਾਂ ਧਯਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।  ਮੈ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ  ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਸਾਫ਼ ਕਰਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਹੇ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੂੰ ਜਾਗ , ਬਿਨਾਂ ਹਰੀ  ਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਣਾ , ਤੁ ਝੂਠੇ ਮੋਹ ਅਤੇ ਫਜੂਲ ਸੰਬੰਧ  ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ।  ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਪਯਾਰ ਲਗਾ ।  ਜੇਕਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਤਾਂ ਦੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।  ਗੁਰੂ  ਦੇ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਕੋਈ  ਆਸਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ।  ਗੁਰੂ ਹੀ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਕੁੱਝ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ।  ਅਸਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਰੱਬ ਸਵਰੁਪ ਹੀ ਹੈ ,  ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾਂ ਅੱਠ ਪਹਿਰ ਗੁਰੂ  ਦੇ ਜਾਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਗਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।

Shabad Interpretation in English:

Hearing of His Greatness, everyone calls Him Great. But just how Great His Greatness is, is known only to those who have seen Him. His Value cannot be estimated; He cannot be described. Those who describe You, Lord, remain immersed and absorbed in You. O my Great Lord and Master of Unfathomable Depth, You are the Ocean of Excellence. No one knows the extent or the vastness of Your Expanse. Even with all the intuitions and by practicing intuitive meditations and with all the appraisers met and made the appraisal. Even with all the spiritual teachers, the teachers of meditation, and the teachers of teachers. They all cannot describe even an iota of Your Greatness. All Truth, all austere discipline, all goodness, all the great miraculous spiritual powers of the Siddhas, without You, no one has attained such powers. They are received only by Your Grace. No one can block them or stop their flow. What can we poor helpless creatures do? Your Praises are overflowing with Your Treasures. Those, unto whom You give, how can they think of any other? O Nanak, the True One embellishes and exalts.
