How does the puppet of clay dance !! He looks and listens, hears and speaks, and runs around. When he acquires something, he is inflated with ego. But when his wealth is gone, then he cries and bewails. In thought, word and deed, he is attached to the sweet and tangy flavors. When he dies, no one knows where he has gone. Says Ravidas, the world is a play my brethren. I have enshrined love for the Lord, the star of the show.

देख भाई, मानुष मिट्टी की कठपुतली की तरह कैसे नाच रहा है !! चारों ओर देखता है सुनता ओर बोलता भी है, लक्ष्य रहित इधर उधर दौड़ रहा है. जब उसे कुछ प्राप्त होजाता है तो अहंकार से भर जाता है. ओर जब कुछ खो जाता है तो विलाप करता है. विचार कथनी ओर करम से मानुष मीठे ओर आकर्षित स्वादों में मगन रहता है. जब वोह इस संसार से विदा होता है तो न जाने कहाँ चला जाता है ! रविदास कहता है, भाई यह संसार तो इक कठपुतली का खेल है. मुझे तो उस बाजीगर प्रभु से प्रीत हो गयी है.

Gurpreet Kaur’s journey in this world ....
Gurpreet Kaur was a Musician. She was a singer and a composer of music. Her interest was composing and singing Gurbani Shabads in Indian Classical style. She sang Shabads in All the Raags mentioned in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. She also taught Gurmat Sangeet at Gurmat Gian Missionary College, Jawadi, Ludhiana.
Elder child to Pushpinder Kaur and Dr. Brig. Harminder Singh, was born in Amritsar on 13th Jan 1962. She attended various convent schools as a child because her father would get frequent Army postings as a dental surgeon. She graduated with Music Honors from Govt. College for Women, Chandigarh.
Music was her hobby and she composed and sang Raag based Gurbani Shabads. Doing Kirtan was part of growing up nurtured by her parents. She learned music from her father Dr. Brigadier Harminder Singh who was a dental surgeon in Indian Army and a very good singer himself. Gurpreet’s Bhua (father’s sister), Ajit Kaur retied as a Head of Department of Music from Govt. College for Women Ludhiana, and was a renounced Punjabi singer of her time. Gurpreet Kaur also learned nuances of Indian Classical Music from Pandita Sharma.
She was a mother of three children, and a grandmother. Her daughter Keerat Kaur is a Computer Engineer. Her two sons Gurkeerat Singh and Jaskeerat Singh are doctors in USA. Her daughter Keerat Kaur too was part of her group ~ Gurmat Gian Group.
Gurpreet Kaur left this world at the age of 54yrs on 12th Sept 2016 in Baltimore USA.
She had recorded around 25 cds of Gurbani Keertan.
'Raag Ratan' Album (6 CDs) is a Compilation of Shabads in All the 31 Sudh Raags of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
'Gauri Sagar' Album (3 CDs) is a Compilation of All forms of Raag Gauri in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
'Nanak Ki Malhaar' ~ ((3 CDs) is an album of Raag Malhar Shabads in various forms of Malhar.
'Gur Parsaad Basant Bana' ~ (3 CDs) is an album of Shabads in Raag Basant sung in various forms of Raag Basant.

My real Ustad for Music was my father Brigadier Harminder Singh who was a Dentist in the Indian Army. He is the one by whose efforts I developed and learned Indian Classical Music. He himself was a very good Kirtania and would do very nice Raag based Gurbani Kirtan. From the time of schooling and later in college my father stimulated me to take up Music as a subject. In college Pandit Sharma too gave me enough vidiya of Indian Classical Music and was my important teacher who taught me real classical music.

How does the puppet of clay dance?
The emphasis for me is the ‘puppet’ that is a clay creation created by the creator, (this is case the clay puppet is deviod of compassion) Also bear in mind that a ‘puppet’ is controlled and has its string pulled by ‘maya’. In this case it is maya that gazes looks and listens and hears and runs around.
This shabad is so simple, in a few sentences it can summarise what 80% of the world does most of the time, runs around in a swirl of maya, searching looking and talking of ways to increase maya. Finally, it succeeds, fulfilling the wish of the puppet, but the ego is inflated, remember a clay puppet cannot feel compassion, it is made of clay and an inflated ego will only lead to misery, for what is inflated WILL be deflated, that is the basic law of nature. Like a ballon inflated with the breath of maya as its foundation then there is no stability. The same breath and lips speaks only heighten sweet false words for sake of maya, will crave the taste of sweet flavours, and an excess of sweet flavours will lead to disease in the body. A diseased body will finally lead to death, for it cannot be sustained by falsehood.
Says Ravidass the is a play of the world and in many cases our lives . Ravidass thas so so simply summarised life and truth as the world is today so beautifully and simply. Finally in the play of life only the love of the Lord is the star of the show.
Ravidass highlights the the problems of the world today, the issues, and then provides a solution to the drama, that is only the love of the Lord.
